Extra Chapter 4: Touch of Memory

Touch of Memory is a side quest after you have beaten Reciful. You have to complete the Moon Shards quest first and beat the Holy Egg to access this quest.

When you talk to Tosl, select the Holy Egg to warp instead of the Devil Egg. The Devil Egg is the item to end the first part of the Ge.ne.sis game.

Strategy Guide

Even though your party is outnumbered, don’t be intimidated. Your characters at this level should be very capable. Hobears are slow as usual and won’t be much of an issue. Set up a defense at the choke point and bombard them with your magical abilities.

Anatnom is deadly if left alone. If you have been following Nera’s Moon Waltz build, keep  her out of his range. Because Nera can’t retaliate against ranged assaults, and thus can’t use Moon Waltz, she will go down very fast. Otherwise, proceed with the battle with usual strategy.

Tips for this battle:

Nera’s magic build is very vulnerable against ranged assaults; be careful and don’t let Anatnom get a chance to attack her.

Strategy Guide

Your party starts surrounded by a lot of rabeans. Depending on your builds, you should either focus on killing the rabeans on your first turn, or spend a turn to conjure Tarots. The rabeans and the Queen Bean are very weak against fire attacks, so consider using the Magician’s Soulburst, Solar Wrath, on them. Sisily’s Warp Tornado is much better than her Electrify Kisses in this battle.

Again, consider closing in on the Queen Bean fast. Your best unit to take her down is Death or Gelyan. The Magician can deal a high amount of damage to her, but he is too slow and may not be able to reach his target fast enough. If possible, use the Fool to swap the Magician closer to her.

Strategy Guide

Things are getting more interesting this battle. Forest Memory has strong physical attacks, but his power lies in his Yellow ability. Not only does it deal a lot of damage, but it also never misses. Therefore, Forest Memory is extremely deadly against all characters, especially Nera. Overall, Forest Memory is a supreme melee unit; it is best to not get into a direct fight with him.
There are three Aquolfs that accompany him in this battle. Take care of them first before they cause too much trouble.

As strong as Forest Memory is, he has the weakness of a melee character. Have Nera use Soul Ritual on him and try to deal as much damage as you can in two turns before he can attack again. Consider using Soul Ritual only after all of the Aquolfs are gone so your party can focus their fire on Forest Memory.

If you have the Lovers Tarot, conjure them instead of the Magician. Broken Thunder (or Broken Flame) is very useful in this battle, allowing Emi to deal much more damage than usual. Otherwise, don’t use Emi on Forest Memory and save her energy for other abilities.

Strategy Guide

Depending on Gelyan’s build, there are different strategies to beat this battle. If Gelyan has been using an endurance build, skip a few turns to save enough energy for two uses of Soul Pact, which should be enough to defeat the Hanged Man.

If Gelyan has been using a sniper build, remove his Marksmanship and Sniper Sense Perks. This should allow you to have enough HP to survive and use Soul Pact. You can also conjure the Fool to absorb the damage and stock enough energy to use Armor Crusher or Trigger Happy.

Strategy Guide

Don’t take Armlus too lightly. This time he has a lot of support from his fellow yetis. Be on your toes; one slip-up may cost you the battle.

Consider trying the Hanged Man in this battle. On the second turn, he can use Dark Gravity to pull Armlus next to the party. Remember that Dark Gravity can be used twice per turn: once during the move phase and once during the action phase. Once Armlus is in your range, unleash all of your firepower and take him down as soon as possible. You may be able to defeat him before he can even act.

In any case, once you start focusing on him, do not stop. His HP recovery is exceptional, and he may recover if you let him stay in the fight for too long. Once the Hanged Man’s HP has gotten low, consider using his Soulburst: Last Exile. Not only does his Soulburst inflict damage, it also cripples your target for the rest of the battle.

Nera can deal a lot of damage to the yetis. After Armlus is gone, have her go on a rampage with the support of other characters. The rest should flow easily.

Strategy Guide

This is another challenging battle. Crystal Memory is as strong as Forest Memory but without his weakness: she has three range. The ability to retaliate against ranged attacks makes Soul Ritual less useful. Your party also has a bad starting position, being surrounded by cloud hoppers.

On your first turn, try to position your units so that Sisily is not in the range of the cloud hopper in the back. You may also consider conjuring the High Priestess for her healing ability instead of Death, since Crystal Memory only uses magical attacks (Blue and White) and can destroy Death quite easily.

Last Exile is extremely useful in this battle since it can deal up to 10,000 damage and make Crystal Memory much less dangerous. Depending on your builds, you can try to take Crystal Memory down first before the cloud hoppers. Emi and Sisily are very useful against her since they have decent resist and Yellow abilities. In any case, do try to take down the Cloud Hopper on the back.

If you have the Lovers, Forbidden Spark is very strong against Crystal Memory. Its Broken Will Perk also prevents the Lovers from going down too fast. Consider conjuring them instead of the Magician. Energy is very sacred in this battle, so use it wisely.

Strategy Guide

Now that you have a wide varties of abilities to use, Gold Feeders shouldn’t be much trouble anymore.

One of the easier ways to win this battle is to utilize Dark Gravity. Have Gelyan conjure the Hanged Man and use Dark Gravity to pull both Gold Feeders to the right side of the battle field. Likewise, get all your other characters out of their range and destroy the Gold Heart. Do not attempt to fight the Gold Feeders if the Gold Heart is still present.

Gelyan and the Hanged Man should be able to hold off the Feeders for a few turns. It is best if Nera conjures the High Priestess to help them with her healing and Essence of Life. After the Gold Heart has been defeated, run your party back and help Gelyan. Just like before, without any defense and resist, they should fall very quickly.

Strategy Guide

This is a very challenging battle, but there are many ways to beat it. Your first target should be the Beholder’s arms. However, they barely move and are far in the back field. Rushing toward them may prove to be catastrophic. Again, consider using Dark Gravity to pull them over for a good beating. You may also want to use Gelyan (if he has the Marksmanship and Sniper Sense Perks) to snipe them off.

Take down the bandits fast and use everything you have in this battle. The Beholder is very deadly with his magic, so if things get to hairy, use Soulburst abilities to disable him. Do your best to protect Sisily and her Tarot. Without them there won’t be enough energy and will lead to certain defeat.

Nera’s Moon Waltz followed up with Crystal Ballad can deal insane amounts of damage on both the bandits or the Beholder. Do not let Nera fall by saving some energy to use Moon Waltz after each turn. If she is targeted she still can heal herself with Moon Waltz.

Extra Battle: Master of the Tale!

The next battle is the last challenge of the first part of Ge.ne.sis. It is also the hardest one. If you have saved up the consumable items (such as Nature Breath, Wind Breath etc.), use them all before this battle.

Strategy Guide

Congratulations! You have reached the final challenge of the first part of the game. Let’s take a look at our enemy first. Tale Memory is the most durable unit so far with 255,555 HP. That colossus HP pool is backed up by high defense, resist and a decent dodge rate. The worst part is, Tale Memory can cast Broken Heaven which will heavily damage all members of your party. His normal attacks are no joke, either, and can defeat any unit in a turn. Tale Memory will take 25% extra damage from Yellow or Red abilities.

This battle requires careful preparation to beat. There are several ways to win, but the following is a strategy that I used.

Preparation:

Nera:

While not having as much HP as Gelyan and a lower HP recovery rate, Nera is your best unit to tank Tale Memory. She has an incredible dodge rate which will somewhat nullify Tale Memory’s physical attacks, as well as the Moon Waltz ability which can heal her during combat. For this role, Nera must be built for Moon Waltz. If you used a power build on Nera, consider using Divine Breath to reset her attributes.

Attribute build:
7 Power, 4 Endurance, 16 Magic, 18 Agility (without items)

Perks:
Power Overwhelming and Flash Steps.

Gely:

Gelyan in this battle should play the role of a heavy mortar. His build doesn’t really matter, but an endurance build is preferred for higher damage with Soul Pact. However, a power build with Armor Crusher still can deal almost as much. For Perks, consider using Eagle Eyes to make sure your hits connect and Sniper Sense for power.  If you are going to use Soul Pact, Unshaken Heart and Rejuvenating Heart are better Perks to pick.

Sisily:

Sisily should play her role as the energy supplier and secondary fire support. A pure magic build is preferred, however, a battle mage build still can do well. For Perks, Shining Soul and Energized Soul are good picks. If you are careful, Frost Guard and Flame Guard are ok to reduce the magic damage.

Actual Battle:

The map is built for you in this battle. On the first turn, have Nera block the choke point right away and conjure Death. Gelyan should conjure the Hanged Man and Sisily should conjure the Lovers (or the Magician).

Save at least 18 energy so if Tale Memory attacks Nera she can heal herself with Moon Waltz. On your second turn, use Soul Ritual to temporarily stop Tale Memory. DO NOT attempt to break the choke position and attack him. Dealing 250,000 damage in 2 turns is not possible. Soul Ritual is only needed to delay the boss for the set up. Use Last Exile to lower his power and Broken Heaven if you have the Lovers.

On the third turn, Conjure the High Priestess. Without her Essence of Life and Grand Blessing, your whole party will be decimated by Tale Memory’s fullscreen attack. Conjure the Fool for HP Leeching and start hitting Tale Memory. When you have a free turn on the High Priestess, use Grand Blessing on Nera to heal her and increase her Power.

The most important thing is to save at least 18 energy before your turn ends so Nera can use Moon Waltz to survive the attack. If she is beaten, the battle is lost. Feel free to use Crystal Ballad to hit Tale Memory at times, but make sure you don’t overdo it. Surviving is the top priority. Let other characters take care of attacking. It may take a while, but eventually you will win the battle.

Tips for this battle:

This is one of many ways to beat Tale Memory. Another way is utilize Death’s Soul Bond. Be creative and come up with your own strategy!
